The Hub will be an important social focus and meeting place for the community of Parry's Cove. The Hub creates a sense of arrival, provides an important visual focus and activates the Parry’s Cove Central Park and emphasises a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor activities.

The community facility @ the Hub incorporates flexible spaces for a range of uses including a spacious resident's lounge that is capable of dividing into separate spaces, an open informal kitchen that encourages social interaction, covered outdoor decks and seating areas overlooking the parklands and water feature. A north-facing courtyard with BBQ and an informal bocce area provides a sunny protected space throughout the year. A separate small ancillary building provides facilities associated with the proposed tennis courts. 

 

The built form and finishes present a contemporary coastal aesthetic that seeks to achieve passive sustainable design through the provision of:

• Cross ventilation using glass louvres and operable and sliding doors.

• Deep eaves and other shading devices.

• Fans.

• Water tanks to provide for the building and adjoining facilities such as the community gardens.

• Integrated internal and covered external spaces, designed for winter and summer conditions.

• Orientated to capture sunlight.

• Careful selection of materials and finishes.
